INNO FIRE 2023 Exploring the Abundant promise of Ultrasound in Medicine and Neurosurgery

Named after the Greek god of medicine and healing, the HEPIUS (Holistic Electrical, ultrasonic and Physiological Interventions Unburdening those with Spinal cord injury) team unites neurosurgeons, biomedical engineers, acoustic engineers and ultrasound scientists, radiologists and sonographers, to treat and diagnose spinal cord injuries.

Under the joint leadership of Amir Manbachi (Biomedical Engineer, PhD) and Nicholas Theodore (Neurosurgeon, MD), the HEPIUS team aims to design and develop a system of systems comprising an entirely new class of implantable and wearable ultrasound devices to aid patients with neurological disorders.
